Shadow Operations Training

Who should Attend ?

This 3-day course is designed for Colorists and Telecine Operators in the post production industry who require a good operational understanding of the Shadow Telecine.
This training is not available in the factory.

Prerequisites:

Participants should possess a basic knowledge of telecine in a film post production environment. Familiarity with general telecine operation is useful but not essential.

Course Content:

This 3-day course includes:

  • introduction to the machine (light path, signal path), cleaning hints
  • GCP operation (user set-ups). Explanation of all machine controls & features
  • Shadow Telecine operation via a 3rd-party controller (Pogle or DaVinci)
  • use of GCP to display feedback of machine, auto menu delegation, etc.
  • signal/level monitoring (test point selection)
  • setting up the machine for data scanning and/or video transfers
  • preset suggestions for storing on the GCP
  • hands-on production exercises for:
    • data scanning (only with available Data Out option):
      correct scan setup, data transfer using the Phantom TE (or Bones) or
    • video transfer including:
      correct video setup, event list creation on a 3rd-party controller, transfer using edit functionality of 3rd-party controller with timing adjustments, if necessary
  • if time & the associated options are available -- demonstration of GCP Event List
  • use of Scream grain reduction (and / or Bones Create Mode)

Benefits:

On completion of this course, participants will possess a good operational understanding of the Shadow Telecine and will be able to use the equipment and its features in the customer’s post-production environment to full advantage.
